Utilities

We serve as general counsel to four of Mississippi’s twenty-five electric power associations, including two of the largest covering at least fourteen counties and as general counsel to the largest water association in the state. The firm also represents public entities involved in power distribution and in water treatment and distribution. This representation involves all areas of public utility law, including counsel regarding regulation by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and the Mississippi Public Service Commission as well as general legal advice on transactional and corporate matters. Our utilities attorneys also defend civil actions against electric utilities throughout Mississippi and provide legal advice to electric utilities and water associations regarding mergers and acquisitions. Our attorneys also have considerable experience in representing telecommunication entities.
